# Conversion

Conversion and redemption for DERP and xDERP are mutually convertible but the steps are different. Please see details below:

## DERP > xDERP conversion

DERP can be freely converted to xDERP any time. The steps are instant and at **1:1** ratio

## xDERP > DERP conversion

* The redemption steps to convert xDERP to DERP implies vesting, the duration of which is selected by the token holder. The conversion rate will increase with the vesting duration:
  * Minimum vesting duration of **24 days** will provide **0.42:1** ratio
  * Maximum vesting duration of **96 days** will provide **1:1** ratio
* IF the selected vesting duration is lower than the maximum ratio 1:1, the excess DERP will be sent to foundation reserve for future purpose; ie. liquidity on better CEX and more.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://derpdex.gitbook.io/home/tokenomics/xderp/conversion.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
